How to Watch NFL Live in 2026
Looking for your team's game? Start with the matchup and kickoff time, then check where it's being shown. NFL coverage changes with the day, your location and sometimes the device you're watching on. A service that carries Sunday's afternoon game may not carry Thursday night's.
TheTVApp is a place to find NFL game listings and watch available live games free, with no subscription required. Free access is part of the service, not a short trial. Open the NFL game listings to see what's available, and use this guide if you're unsure which broadcast or viewing option you need.
Find the right NFL game first
Search for both teams, especially if you're checking a schedule several days ahead. Confirm the date and convert the kickoff time to your time zone. A Sunday evening game in the United States can fall on Monday morning elsewhere.
Look at the game's status before opening it. An upcoming listing isn't a live broadcast, and a finished game may lead to information rather than a replay. If you arrive early, check again closer to kickoff instead of assuming the listing is broken.
TheTVApp is organized around sports listings, so the main schedule is also useful when you're following more than one sport. For a specific NFL matchup, start with the NFL section to avoid confusing professional football with college games.
Which channels show NFL games in the US
Sunday afternoon games are generally split between CBS and FOX. NBC carries Sunday Night Football, while Monday Night Football runs on ESPN and, for selected broadcasts, ABC. Prime Video is the usual home of Thursday Night Football.
That weekly pattern doesn't cover every fixture. Selected international, holiday and Saturday games have separate arrangements, including NFL Network and Netflix. Check the individual game rather than assuming that every Thursday or holiday follows the same rule. The 2026 broadcaster guide from Paramount+ provides a current overview.
For local Sunday coverage, your location matters. Two viewers opening the same network in different cities may get different games. Before paying for a package, check which local station it supplies in your area and whether it carries the matchup you actually want.
Local games and out of market games are different
In NFL viewing guides, out of market usually means a Sunday afternoon game that isn't being shown by your local CBS or FOX station. It doesn't mean every game unavailable in your current app.
NFL Sunday Ticket covers out-of-market Sunday afternoon regular-season games carried by CBS and FOX. It doesn't replace local broadcasts, national games or separately distributed streaming exclusives, and it doesn't include the playoffs. You can buy it through YouTube without taking a YouTube TV base plan. See YouTube's Sunday Ticket coverage explanation before choosing a package.
For example, following a team from another city can make Sunday Ticket relevant on a Sunday afternoon. When that team plays on Sunday night, you'll need the option carrying that night's broadcast instead. Buying a season package doesn't remove the need to check each game.
NFL Plus and RedZone serve different needs
NFL+ includes live local and primetime regular-season and postseason games on phones and tablets. Those live games aren't available on a television through casting. If your plan is to watch from the couch on a big screen, confirm that limitation before subscribing. The NFL casting guidance explains the distinction.
NFL+ Premium adds features including full-game replays and NFL RedZone. Replays can be useful when a late kickoff doesn't fit your schedule, but they aren't a substitute for live coverage
if avoiding spoilers matters to you. Check the current NFL+ plan features for device and plan details.
RedZone moves between Sunday afternoon games to follow scoring opportunities and touchdowns. It's handy for keeping up with several matchups or a fantasy lineup. If you want every snap of one team's game, choose that game's full broadcast. The NFL's RedZone overview describes what the channel covers.
Can you watch NFL games free
You can watch available NFL games on TheTVApp without a subscription charge. Check the current listings for your matchup; a free service and a complete season package aren't the same promise.
TheTVApp is free to use for available games, though your normal internet or mobile data charges still apply. A free listing also doesn't tell you whether a game is already live. Check the start time before troubleshooting playback.
Elsewhere, read what a free offer actually includes. Highlights, radio commentary and a temporary trial are different from a full live game. A page mentioning NFL content doesn't necessarily carry the broadcast you're looking for.
Before kickoff and if playback stops
Open the game a few minutes early so there's time to check audio and video. On a phone, a stable Wi-Fi connection may be more practical than relying on a weak mobile signal. Keep your browser current and close other tabs that are actively playing video.
If playback stops, first check whether the game has started and whether your connection works on another page. Then reload the game once. If the player offers a quality setting, a lower resolution may help on a slow connection. Repeatedly opening more players can make the problem harder to diagnose.
Don't install an unfamiliar extension or disable browser security because an advertisement asks you to. If a listing shows the wrong teams or time, send the page address and a short description through Contact Us.
NFL viewing questions
Can I watch every NFL game through one subscription
Don't assume so. Local games, out-of-market Sunday afternoon games and exclusive broadcasts have different coverage arrangements. Work from the games you want to watch, then compare what each service includes.
Why is my team missing from the local channel
Regional programming determines which Sunday afternoon game your local station shows. Check the listing for your location rather than a national channel schedule alone.
Does NFL Sunday Ticket include the Super Bowl
No. Its regular-season Sunday afternoon coverage doesn't include postseason games. Check the broadcaster for the specific playoff round or Super Bowl you're planning to watch.
Can I use this guide outside the United States
The broadcaster and package details above are US-focused. Outside the US, use the NFL viewing finder to check options for your location. Don't assume US subscriptions have the same availability abroad.
Is college football on the same schedule
No. College football has separate competitions, broadcast arrangements and listings. If you're looking for a university team, use the college football section.
